HVAC Service Assistant

Profitability in the HVAC service industry primarily comes from controlling costs by efficiently using technician time. An under-used approach to getting the most from limited technician time is using simple and inexpensive technology to detect equipment faults with little or no technician time or skill required. This allows HVAC service organizations to target valuable technician time to equipment that is known to need attention.

Using existing or inexpensive-to-acquire data

Commercial building controls and inexpensive Wi-Fi thermostats collect data.  The automated Service Assistant, uses this data to determine if the HVAC system is acting as expected. Using current and historical data, Service Assistant detects reduced capacity and predicts when fault become severe enough that they'll become apparent to occupants.

Streamlining field service data collection and analysis

There is no reason to diagnose a unit until a fault is detected. Service Assistant collects a few easy to measure temperatures that will quickly give a fault/no fault decision. This allows for an objective decision if a more involved and expensive diagnosis process is needed. It also produces a record that can be used to organize larger jobs,  produce historical trends, and detect performance outliers among groups of equipment.
